Botanical Prints and a New Pouf

Hi there! Have y'all noticed all the pretty botanical prints floating around blogland lately? I sure have. I wanted to try making a small gallery wall using some of them.

Here's what I came up with...

Actually, mine probably doesn't qualify as a "gallery wall" because I only used 4 prints, but whatever. :)

Here's a couple of pics of what this wall looked like before...

See how tall the ceilings are? I just felt I needed something else on either side of the mirror to beef it up a bit.

My first stop was, of course, The Graphics Fairy. I found four prints that I liked, had my son print them for me on quality photographic paper, and popped them in $4 frames from Walmart.

Here's a few more "afters"...

I like how they take up more room on this big wall now.

You can see that there's a little color in the prints, but I think they still go well with my neutral colors I have going on.

Here are some closer shots of the individual prints...

And now let me tell you the story of my new pouf...

Many years ago we had a red fabric sofa and loveseat that had recliners on each end. I loved the fact that it looked like a traditional sofa, but still had the built in recliners. We had that set for about 14 years. We loved that all four of us could put our feet up in them. We eventually got rid of that set and bought the leather furniture. (and I think you all know how THAT turned out) :) We've since purchased yet another sofa and loveseat for our living room, but have always kind of missed the recliners. Because of that, we've always had an ottoman in there to put our feet up on.

Our old ottoman matched our leather sofa and loveseat, so ever since we got the new set, I've been on the lookout for an ottoman or "pouf" to match. I found a grey one online at Walmart that I liked. It said it could be used as extra seating, which was an added bonus, but it was always out of stock.

I had been stalking the Walmart website for about a month, checking every day to see if this grey pouf was back in stock. Finally one day, it was available! I quickly put it into my cart and checked out before they could change their minds. :)

I put this pic on Instagram the day it was delivered. I was so excited to finally get my pouf!

Then, of course, I started realizing it wasn't as big as I wanted. When we sat on it for the "extra seating" our knees were up to our chins. My love for it started to wane a bit. Then I remembered seeing one in the Target ad I really liked. I saw it a few weeks ago, but didn't want to spend the $60 they were asking for it. But, when it went on sale for $45, that made it a little more palatable and brought it down to about the same price I paid for the Walmart one.

Here they are side by side. You can see how much bigger the Target one is on the left. And the Target one specifically says it can hold up to 200 lbs. so it can definitely be used for extra seating.

So, we decided to return the Walmart one in favor of the bigger, more practical Target one.

It's so comfy to rest your feet on.

I love how well it goes with my new living room furniture.

When I'm relaxing on the sofa, I sometimes use it as a side table. You can see just how much it can hold too...I have my reading glasses, phone, remote, and a couple of magazines on it with plenty of room to spare. Since the pouf is kind of squishy, I have a small plastic tray I'm going to put on it to hold my tea cup. I'm doing a makeover on the tray and will share that soon.

And that's it! Have any of you purchased a pouf lately?
